Stories That Shape Us: When Greatness Fades | 1 Kings 1-11

Starting strong is great, but finishing well requires heart.

“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).

Stories That Shape Us: Abraham Believed God | Genesis 15:1-6

God calls us to walk by faith in Him.

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son[b] shall be your heir.” And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:1-6).

Communion | John 6:53

The Lord's Supper is to be administered with the elements of bread and fruit of the vine and is to be observed by His churches until the Lord's return.

So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you” (John 6:53).

Stories That Shape Us: And the Flood Came | Genesis 6:5-9

God is perfectly just – yet extends mercy.

"For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. ... Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect" (Matthew 24:37-39, 44).
